Breaking Borders

"Borders are not photographable"
 - the question that generated all the work

To start the project, we began by figuring out how we wanted to approach this topic and how to represent it. We got the idea from our answer, specifically this sentence "There is therefore a mold pre-designed by the human mind", and so it began.
The aim was to make a mold of the body of one of the group members so that we could write on it and make a performative intervention possible. The materials for the mold were simply sheets of newspaper, white glue, water, a can of white spray paint, a black permanent pen and a skein of thread. We chose a model and began by protecting its entire body with cellophane paper and then began to superimpose several layers of paper soaked in glue and water. Between the layers, we placed strands of thread coming out of the shape to be used in the performance. Once the "body" was made, we moved on to the mask. We used a balloon and did the same process with the threads removed. When everything was dry, we used a can of white spray paint to partially cover the information on the newspapers. Finally, we drew several borders along the "body", choosing some problematic territorial borders and writing them on the piece. On the mask we drew the same border lines but put our response to the issue in a shorter way.
